ASK YOUR RELATIVE QUESTIONS

Hey Auntie, I’m trying to stay up to date on all this COVID stuff, but I feel like I’m getting mixed messages. What do I need to know and what should I be doing?

Great question!

Well, what you need to know about COVID is that it is similar to the influenza virus in the way that it acts. Past influenza viruses have taken around 2 years to cycle through, so unless there is a vaccine for COVID, we might expect the same timeline.

So, as things start to open up (or close again) around the country, we can say confidently that “open” doesn’t mean “over”.

Many places are now seeing a surge in new COVID cases and hospitalizations. However, we have the power to slow the spread of COVID-19 by taking some very simple steps:

  • The power is in your hands. Wash them often.
  • The power is in your feet. Stay six feet from others outside your household.
  • The power is in your attitude. Be courteous and wear a mask when you’re out in public.

Thank you for looking after yourself and your relatives.

Take care,

Auntie Manda
