My name is James Hernandez and I am a 24 year old graduate student. I was born and raised in San Antonio, Tx. I am currently going to graduate school in Salt Lake City, Utah as well as working part-time as an Outreach Worker for Title VII where I mentor tribally enrolled elementary students. I am a member of the Tehuan Band of Mission Indians in San Antonio, Tx., which I participated in founding along with my father and many other members of my family. I enjoy hiking, camping, cooking, and reading, among many other things. I enjoy including my mentees in the activities that I am involved in as a way to empower the youth through learning new skills and participating in enjoyable experiences. I am excited to be a part of this amazing resource for Native youth and I will do my best to be a positive role model to those that are involved in Wernative!
