Stephanie Paz is a sophomore majoring in Biological Sciences with a Biomedical Concentration at The University of Texas at El Paso with hopes of graduating in Spring 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Science. Stephanie currently works with her Ysleta del Sur Pueblo tribe in El Paso, Texas where she is working on a research project with the The Albuquerque Area Indian Health Board (AAIHB) Southwest Tribal Native American Research Centers for Health (NARCH) program. Ever since the age of 12, Stephanie has been actively involved with her tribal community from being involved in a Teens Against Commercial Tobacco initiative to sitting on a panel in her tribe since age of 16 that promotes safe sex and healthy relationships. Stephanie takes a great passion in educating and taking care of the Native youth in her tribe which she plans on doing more as a We R Native Youth Ambassador. As a We R Native Youth Ambassador, Stephanie wants to promote resources and knowledge of any health related issues that concern the Native youth within her tribe.

I just found my friend cuts herself and i also have struggled with self harm for a long time and I know how much it sucks when people point it out. Do i just wait until she’s ready to tell me herself? How do i talk to her about it?
