Being happy with yourself, your life and your interests can help you feel content, regardless of whether you are in a relationship or not. Sometimes people bash being single, but in reality – being single is a good opportunity to get to know yourself better and figure out what you want from a relationship.
Meeting someone you like. Meeting people can be tough. Try not to be too hard on yourself if you don’t meet someone when you want to. Remember:
- Being single is OK
- Everyone has different tastes and interests
- We are all attracted to people for different reasons (looks, common interests, similar ways of thinking, etc.)
Some people meet others over the Internet. If you plan to meet face-to-face with someone you met online, it is a good idea to be cautious of giving out personal details like where you live and your phone number. If you decide to meet someone you don’t know, it’s a good idea to meet in a public place where lots of other people are, like a movie theater, coffee shop or the mall. It might also be a good idea to have a friend nearby. Some people are not always honest and they might give you false information and might try to hurt you.
